Manchester City F.C. (Football Club) is a professional football club based in Manchester, England. The club was founded in 1880 as St. Mark's (West Gorton), before changing its name to Ardwick A.F.C. in 1887 and then finally becoming Manchester City F.C. in 1894.

The club's most successful period came in the late 1960s and early 1970s, when they won the English league title, the FA Cup, the League Cup, and the European Cup Winners' Cup.

The club's traditional colors are sky blue and white, and its crest features a shield with a ship and three diagonal stripes representing the three rivers of Manchester: the Irwell, the Irk, and the Medlock. The club's nickname is the "Citizens" or simply "City".
